Ideas for Using Elephant Ear Sponges

Use the smoother side for broader, softer impressions and the rougher side when you want more broken or irregular texture. Test the sponge with your chosen paint, glaze or craft medium on scrap material before applying it to a finished surface. Paints, adhesives and other materials may permanently change the sponge, so reserve used pieces for that purpose.

Cleaning and Drying

When the material you used can be rinsed with water, clean the sponge promptly before residue dries. Gently squeeze rather than twisting or wringing, then place it where air can circulate until completely dry. Follow the paint or craft-medium manufacturer’s cleanup instructions, and replace the sponge if it becomes brittle, tears or can no longer be cleaned.
