Description

This Peruvian loofah is a natural, full-length plant-fiber sponge sourced from Peru. Its long, slender shape gives you the option to use it whole or divide it into several smaller sections.

Peruvian loofah size and natural variation

Each loofah measures approximately 14 inches long and about 2 to 2.5 inches in diameter. Measurements are approximate because loofahs are naturally grown rather than manufactured to identical dimensions. Color, shape, fiber density and texture will vary from one piece to another.

The narrow diameter makes this variety easy to hold after soaking. A full-length piece can be useful for bath and shower routines, handmade soap projects or cutting into separate pieces for other suitable uses.

Use it whole or cut custom sections

Keep the loofah full length when you want more reach, or cut it into shorter hand-size pieces. If cutting is needed, work while the loofah is dry. Use clean, sharp scissors or a suitable knife on a stable surface, and keep your hands clear of the cutting path. Separate anything intended for household cleaning from pieces used on the body.

How to prepare a Peruvian loofah

Soak the dry loofah in warm water until the fibers open and soften. Add soap or body wash, then use comfortable, gentle pressure. Natural loofahs feel firmer when dry and become more flexible when thoroughly wet. Individual preferences vary, so begin gently when trying a new texture.

Rinsing, drying and replacement

Rinse the loofah thoroughly after each use and squeeze out excess water without twisting it aggressively. Hang or place it in a well-ventilated area where it can dry completely. Do not share a body-use loofah. Replace it if it develops a persistent odor, discoloration or begins to break down.
